Inspection & Authenticity FAQ
Where do these pieces come from?
Every item in the Estate Sale Finds collection is sourced through online auctions from wholesalers who acquire them from estate liquidations and other suppliers. I don't personally attend estate sales — each piece is carefully inspected upon arrival before it's listed.
Do you inspect each piece before listing it?
Yes. Every piece is physically handled and visually inspected upon arrival. I examine overall condition, check clasps and closures, look for visible hallmarks or maker's marks, and note any visible wear, damage, or repairs in the product description. Pricing is based on sold comparable listings for similar pieces in similar condition. What you see in the photos and read in the listing is my full disclosure.
How do you determine if a piece is authentic or designer?
Authentication starts with visible hallmarks, maker's marks, stamps, and signatures present on the piece itself, as described in each listing. For higher-value pieces, I also take the item to a known, trusted jeweler for additional inspection, testing, and confirmation before pricing and listing. I am not a certified gemologist myself, but higher-value pieces do get a second set of professional eyes.
What can you tell me about the materials and stones?
I describe materials and stones based on visible markings, my own assessment, and — for higher-value pieces — jeweler verification. Unless a listing specifically states a stone has been lab-tested or a metal has been assayed, descriptions otherwise reflect visual evaluation only.
Is wear, damage, or repair disclosed?
Yes, to the best of my ability. Any visible scratches, patina, missing stones, bent prongs, re-plating signs, or evidence of prior repair are noted in the listing description and/or photographed. Estate jewelry is inherently pre-owned; some age-related wear is expected and part of its character.
What is your return policy for Estate Sale items?
All Estate Sale Finds are sold as-is, final sale — no returns or exchanges. Because I have no prior ownership history beyond what is stated in each listing, I cannot accept returns based on condition, authenticity disputes, or buyer's remorse. Please read each listing carefully and reach out with questions before purchasing.
Can I ask questions before I buy?
Absolutely — I encourage it. If you want additional photos, measurements, or have a specific question about a piece, contact me before placing your order. I'm happy to take extra photos or check a detail for you.
